Oh My Lawd....

It's 12:02pm and I have been up since last night at 10:00pm working from home. I haven't slept since two nights ago and I'm dizzy with exhaustion.

To make a very long story short since my last posting, the following are a few updates:

  • I had a very busy Christmas and did not have once chance to blog about anything. In fact, I was rarely on the internet except for work. I have so many e-mails waiting to be checked on.
  • I finished out the quarter at university with A's in both classes. The 10-page research paper was finally completed, C++ programs were written and my 4.0 GPA wasn't compromised...whew! I am finally a senior! Who would think the moment would arrive? I certainly did not.
  • A girl I used to work with called asking if I would like a one-year free membership to a local gym. She won it at a charity auction and wasn't going to use it. I could not believe my luck while saying I would love to have the membership and maybe this year will finally be one that is full of health and weight loss.
  • Our Christmas was the best Christmas we have had in years, which was quite refreshing.
  • Christmas did start with some family dysfunction due to seeing my biological father for the first time in years, but it ended up on a good note (not with him, but Christmas in general).
  • We have a new dog named Foxy who is my husband's cutie. He is thrilled to have her.
  • HoneyBunny wasn't so sure about Foxy at first, but they are getting along a bit more each day.
  • My husband's and my anniversary was December 27. We spent a very nice anniversary with each other. It's been eight years together with six being married. Things have been going better between us.
  • I got sick this past week and worked from home. Thankfully it wasn't mental illness, but physical with nasty symptoms such as headache/throat ache/fevers/exhaustion/hacking/coughing/body aches/sneezing/etc. I'll take that over mental illness any day. It's been a whole bunch of fun and we weren't able to go out for New Year's Eve because of it. Oh well, better luck next year.
  • I'm still not feeling great, but am better, thank God.
  • My daughter's 16th birthday is coming up in January. She is dying to have a special "Sweet 16" birthday. If ya'll have any ideas, please let me know.
  • Thank you everyone for your support, advice and everything ya'll have done this past year for me. I owe each and every one of you so very much because you each have helped me more than you realize. I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday season because you certainly deserve it.
  • I am finally going to take my poll down. My husband said that he would not go to a hotel to spend the night for no reason. It was good to be able to tell him everyone's feedback. Thank you all for your objectivity.
I will blog more about specific bullet points later. Right now I'm going to blog around and read what's been happening in your world. I've missed all of you!

I'm glad you're feeling better!

May the New Year bring you many blessings.

Dec. 27th was my mom & dad's anniversary, too.

You sound great! I'm so glad you are feeling better, mentally and physically, and that you had a great Christmas. I'm also glad to hear that your husband wouldn't spend the night at a hotel. Very good start to the new year, it sounds like. Glad to hear everythings going well.

Happy New Year, chickie, and Congratulations on becoming a senior!

Cameron - Thank you, my dear. I hope that you and James had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's together. Very cool about having the same anniversary. :) How long have they been married?

Karen - As always, thank you for your kind words. I still can't believe I'm finally a senior. I always thought I would be gliding in my wheelchair when I got the degree, but maybe...just maybe...I'll actually get it before I head to the grave. :)

I hope that you had a wonderful holiday season because you certainly deserve it. *hugs*

Kim - What type of dog was your Foxy? Ours is a pomeranian, though she looks like she has Papillon mixed in as well. We're not sure because we got her from a shelter.

I apologize for worrying you. Thankfully, I am happy to report that all is well.

Thank you for checking in. It means a lot!

Foxy was a Shetland sheepdog. I can't remember when we got her (thanks to memory loss due to psychiatric medications) but I was probably in my early teens. She passed away several years ago at 14. She was the sweetest dog. So very kind and smart. When I lived with my parents I used to dress her up in a Santa hat and visit nursing homes. She brought much joy into our lives and stranger's lives. Sadly but beautifully, the day she died was a memory I will never forget. My parents were on vacation and due back that night... and I was with her. She had stopped eating the day before and I knew her time was short but she had lived a good, long life. Anyway, my sister came over the night my parents got home and we all gathered around her, petting her, crying, saying good bye and then, just like that, she took her last breathe. She was waiting for us all to be together, to say good bye. I truly believe that and miss her so much right now.

My best to you and enjoy your sweet 'Foxy'

HAPPY NEW YEAR.. 2009 will be a good year because we can use our blogs to challenge our thinking, get it off our chests and have people from round the world say happy new year and 'hope you had a cider and black for me!'. How cool is that??!!
Lots of love and hugs

Hey! I'm so glad things are looking up for you!!

To answer your questions from my blog:
1. I am working 1 day per week in a seasonal position that's due to be done sometime this month. It's not 3rd shift, I was laid off from that position in May I believe. I'll never go back to 3rd shift, it was awful. I am still looking for something FT, keep your fingers crossed for me :)
2. I am still with my parents, hence needing all the well wishes I can get with regards to finding a new job before I go insanium in the cranium.
3. Eric and I are friends but really I just got tired of his bullshit. He's so busy all the time and has to 'fit' everyone in, and I should never feel like I'm begging him to spend time with me, and that's what it came down to. I'm just tired of feeling like I'm 2nd best to whomever else he's seeing (that I know for a fact he makes more time for....she's the one he does most of his "couple" stuff with, while I get his leftovers - no thank you.) Also, he's a really bad temptation with regards to me partying, so it's probably for the best anyway, if we were still hanging out a lot I probably wouldn't be doing as good as I am. He's really just turned into something completley opposite of what I thought, lying by omission, etc.., and my rose-colored glasses have been seeing much clearer now.
4. Financial problems definitely NO better.. waaaah!
5. I wish I could take some of the credit for Haley being a straight A student, but for the most part - it's all her. She's sooo smart and hasn't reached the age yet where she's not living up to her potential (probably what your daughter's going thru - that 15/16 year old lethargy thing...) Honestly, she rarely even studies -so far this year there was only 1 test she actually studied for (on the countries in Africa) but everything else comes so easily. She never misses school, she always does all her homework (which I check each day, but hardly ever have any corrections, WTF?) and she always does any extra credit that's offered. It also helps that the school really keeps kids interested in learning - do you know that their latest advanced reading assignment was TWILIGHT????? How awesome is that?
Honestly, I just think she's at the age right now where earning A's (and all the praise, etc.., that comes along with it) is her motivation. I'm not fooling myself that this is a permanent thing, as much as I hope it is...I'm sure her teen years are going to be filled with..um...challenges? She is her mother's daughter after all...hehe.

Sorry this is sooooooo long!!!

Kim - Thank you so much for sharing your story about Foxy. I think it is so wonderful how she waited for all of you to be together as she passed to the next life.

I am going to post pics of Foxy soon. :)

Siobhan, it is VERY cool! It's so strange, but for some reason I really do believe that we will have a cider and black together one day!

I don't know if I've ever said this, but I want to retire in Scotland one day. That will be close enough at least to you to hang out! :) And anyway, we won't have to wait that long because my husband wants to visit the UK and I can see us doing it in a few years.

I hope that you had a wonderful New Years!
